Research and Analysis

This working group focuses on the data collection and analysis required to evaluate the situation in Fayette County in accord with state and national standards and the best practice models to remove the disparities in our systems. This group will inform the work of the Advocacy and Awareness Committee as well, will interpret and explain data provided to us by the local, state and national government agencies and will ensure that our RCCW-DMC effort is guided by accurate information.

Community Champions

​Rebecca Webb, leader

This working group will identify, recruit and develop community champions who can carry the importance of this work forward and make change happen in those systems impacting children and families in our community. Two important components of the work will include focus on the engagement of those children and families impacted by the systems and focus on elected officials, educational leaders, business leaders and other private interests that exert power in the community which may be harming children and families of color but could well be helping to empower children and families of color.

Advocacy and Awareness

This working group will focus efforts on community based advocacy and enhancing awareness of those critical decision-making points where change must happen to eradicate racial disparity. Areas of focus will include school engagement, court system personnel and processes, Department of Juvenile Justice staffing and processes, Department of Community Based Services staffing and processes, Administrative Office of the Courts staffing and processes, private agencies that contract with DCBS and DJJ to deliver state services to youth and family. This working group will keep up the website and Facebook page.

Executive Steering Committee (ESC)

This Working Group will set the agenda for our RCCW-DMC meetings and provide support and/or direction to our working groups. The group will meet prior to the larger RCCW-DMC Meeting to set the agenda, ensure clear communication and help move forward the goals of the RCCW-DMC Committee. A member of the ESC will take minutes and distribute them through our Gmail distribution list.

Working Groups

RCCW Fayette County/DMC is a collaboration of many community agencies such as Fayette County Public Schools, Lexington-Fayette Health Department, Lexington-Fayette Police Department, Bluegrass Community and Technical College, University of Kentucky, Kentucky State University, Lex Linc, Family Counseling Services, Bluegrass Mental Health-Mental Retardation Board, Bluegrass Domestic Violence Program, Chrysalis House, Lexington Human Rights Commission, Department for Community Based Services, Community Action Council, Children’s Law Center, Partners for Youth, Administrative Office of the Courts and many others.
